Some people think parents should attend child care courses to learn how to take care of their children. Do you agree?
Answer :
Today, it has become more and more difficult for parents alone to take care of children. In this regard, it is often argued that parenting courses should be compulsory to make individuals be better mothers and fathers. However, I disagree with this statement. In this essay, I will discuss reasons for this.
Taking child care courses can be ineffective when parents are busy working. Young parents these days already have many courses to take to learn more to get promoted in the competitive working environment. They also have to keep looking for something new to study to succeed in this fast changing society. For them, being a parent is needless to say an uneasy decision to make, and living as a student and as a parent at the same time will make their shoulders heavier.
Also, parenting courses only provide knowledge to be used. The person who creates important rapport is parents and children themselves. Moreover, young children are in a stage of development and demand more time from parents than ever, and being in the class can take away this time resource. The parents should realise that both their children and themselves they are living in a critical period of time, which can never be taken take back. Just being with them will be the best thing they can do as their parents.
In conclusion, being parents and attending parenting classes should not be encouraged. This is because those are two different responsibilities, which are that one parent cannot deal with simultaneously.
