People have a myriad of opinions concerning making friends by using social media. Some people take it for granted that it is more convenient and useful whereas, I believe that it has negative effects on people's relationship. In this essay, I will elaborate on these issues in more detail and suggest my point of view.
Some people say that making friends through the Internet exerts a positive effect on people's life. This is mainly because the Internet enables people to know diverse people anytime and anywhere. As a case in point, a lot of high school students in Korea meet new friends on Facebook which is a famous social media. Since it is full of new people who have various jobs, personalities and cultural backgrounds, they can have a conversation about wide spectrum such as politics, economy and society wherever they are. The example above reveals that the Internet helps people expand human relationships and perspectives toward the world. Therefore, it is efficient to some extent.
However, I am strongly convinced that we benefit from meeting friends in person to person. The reason for this is that we can share emotions and feelings. In fact, I often meet my friends after work to have a chat about my difficulties and uncertain future while having a nice dinner. My friends always give sincere advice and solutions from the bottom of their hearts. During the time I feel comfortable and stable watching their eyes and facial expressions. In other words, we can construct a strong relationship through the non-verbal communications. In this sense, it is safe to say that the advantages of direct meeting are too great to deny.
Taking all of these things into account, although some people insist that social media allow people to have a relationship without the limit of time and place, I am confident that it ruins the firm relationship of humans.
