Consumer behavior has changed considerably in recent years due to technology. In what ways does technology affect consumer activities such as shopping? Do thte advanteges outweigh the disadvantages?

 

Answer :

 

It is clear that the way consumers behave  currently has changed substantially compared to the past according to the development of technology. It is a common belief that the phenomenon has caused many drawbacks. However, I personally believe it has more positive effects than negative ones. 

 

Thanks to developed technology, people are able to purchase things they need more easily than before. There are new forms of shopping methods introduced such as online shops on the Internet and shopping mall applications on smartphones. In fact, the number of online shopping has rapidly increased for recent years. Although many offline shopping centers have faced bad situations, losing many customers as one of adverse effects of it, the online businesses have been more activated than ever before. As a result, it makes a great number of profits in that business field, which leads to overall economic growth.

 

Furthermore, changed tendancy of consuming helps customers comfortable when purchasing. For example, they had to go around many shops to find some items that suit their tastes, spending a tons of time and energy before, but now they can shop anywhere anytime they want just with one click. In that regard, we can reach the conclusion that shopping on the Internet is less time-consuming compared to shopping offline. In addition, they have more various ways to get discounts and wide options of items. Of course, there are some disadvantages like they are unable to try on items in person to see if the items fit them; however, in this case, they can reference other's reviews to resolve this problem.

 

As technology has been developed, people's behavior when buying something has also changed in many ways, and it has pros and cons. However, it is undeniable that its plus sides outweigh the minus ones regarding that it makes shopping much easier and more comfortable than the past.
