Answer :

Robin Tan, a supporter of a youth campaign in Malaysia, once said, ‘Young minds are often easily affected by what they are exposed to,’ and today, there are more environmental factors. Other than family, there are television, friends and music. In this essay, I will discuss both factors and claim that family is no longer critical.

Traditionally, family has played an important role in the young’s development. It is the first society to be a part of, and a well functioning family forms a better image of the world and the child themselves. They learn that they can understand others and be understood in the same way. This compassion will create rapport, and the rapport between parents and children will make their relationship last. This can play a role as a social safety net in the future.

Today, not every families function well. Parents live a busy life, and their teenage kids value privacy. However, this change does not mean that young people can live without other people, so they consume movies or music with friends because they show empathy. The contents usually reflect real life, and watching and listening them are fulfilling enough. The stories will tell a lot about people from different societies and teach that everyone has the same good and bad in life.

In conclusion, families now cannot do much for children’s development. There are other factors that can play the same role as the traditional models of family. With sources of entertainment, children will be able to value the art of compassion.
