' Some organisations believe that their employees should dress smartly ' issue

Topic :

Some organisations believe that their employees should dress smartly. Others value quality of work above appearance.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Answer :

While it is argued that some companies require their workers to wear clothes looking intelligent, others consider quality of work more important. In this essay, I would have to support the idea that working skill is more significant for companies than appearance.

On the one hand, it is true that clothing has an impact on an organization. The first impression plays an important role in making a decision and it is often influenced by the way they look. For instance, my father, who works as a CEO in a company in Korea, often tells me that the most significant component in a job interview is being neat. Other interviewers and my father usually look at the applicants observing their features as well as other skills. Therefore, it is considerable for labours to wear neat and tidy clothes.

On the other hand, the most important matter at this point for companies is not appearance but competence. To be specific, although most workers of a company wear tidy suits, it would be hard to improve and to be admitted by other organizations if they do not have good work capability. In addition, wearing comfortable clothes help increase employees’ work efficiency. If they wear uncomfortable clothes, they would not be able to concentrate on their work and this would have a negative affect  in the organization. Thus, people’s ability for work is helpful for their companies.

To sum up, I strongly believe that quality of work is worthwhile for running a company compared to their workers’ look. The reason is that even though looking smart can give a good impression, it cannot help the company practically.
